Joshua Tree, California

Travel is the best kind of pause — a very worthy pause, you might call it.

This desert weekend in Joshua Tree was one of my favorite California road trips to date. I saw a non-cartoon roadrunner, cooked some lamb meatballs and experienced of the most beautiful sunsets of my life. Like, really experienced it (as cheesy as that sounds).

There's this stillness and quietness in Joshua Tree that encourages a person to be still and quiet for a while too.

The many, MANY photos below include Land Before Time hikes in Joshua Tree National Park, our boho mid-century Airbnb, the Joshua Tree Coffee Company and Ernest Coffee in Palm Springs (we stopped there on the way home).

P.S. If you make it all the way to the bottom of this post, there's an amazing video that my amazing husband made with his off-brand GoPro (which we affectionately call a GooProo).

P.S. We stopped at the Salton Sea on the way back from Joshua Tree. Very eerie stuff.
